It was an honour to be present at the wedding of the Irish captain Brian O’Driscoll and Amy Huberman last week.
The day went without a hitch and was planned with precision. In fairness, that was probably down to Amy more than Brian.
The wedding was a pretty big deal here in Ireland, with a big media presence and a lot of security. It struck me though, during the ceremony and and the reception how down to earth it was. Sure, we had a champagne reception with delicious canapes. Yes, we had a six course banquet with wine flowing, and top class service. Of course there were sporting celebrities and stars of Irish screen present. At the end of the day however, this was a celebation of two families coming together, and two people tying the knot.
Brian was a wonderful host, and looked after his guests with due diligence. I know people would love to hear of some big inside scoop but it was all fabulous-sickening isn’t it?!!! He was beaming all day, and looked as happy and content as I have ever seen him, which only bodes well for his rugby performances. That is of course until the babies and sleepless nights come along!
